Summer is almost here and we’re anxiously waiting to show off our outstanding outfits. If you’re a student of style (which you should be), you already know very well that trends come and go.
You know that the basics of a man’s wardrobe stay the same for years, sometimes even decades. The only thing that may change is your inclination to try new things.
But, you know what? Trends are ok.
What, George? You’ve been telling me for two years that trends are bad and now you’ve changed your mind??
Hold on there!
Trends are still there to make us buy more clothes at higher prices. That’s a fact. That’s how the fashion industry works.
But, you know what? Trends can give us some fantastic ideals of new things to wear. Style is about innovation but it’s hard to come up with your own “crazy” combinations of clothes. That works… sometimes.
But most trends are really cool. Take the summer 2011 trends, for instance. They have some really good suggestions that you can try.
Take the Henley shirt for instance. The Henley shirt is a great alternative if you’re tired of t-shirts and polo shirts.
You can see that it’s made to show just a little more skin.
But WAIT! is this really for you?
A trend is a trend but you always have to consider if this item of clothing will fit you like a glove or not. If it won’t.. don’t buy it!
To show you what I mean, let me ask you a few questions about yourself.
Do you have really hairy chest? If you do, the Henley is definitely not for you (unless you trim that hair).
Do you have a big belly? If you do, stay away from the Henley shirt.
Another big trend this season is the sports jacket. Sports jackets are becoming increasingly popular and you should definitely get one… as soon as possible.
My prediction: blazers and sports jackets will be in 5 years time as common as the leather jacket.
Here’s why: sports jackets are a high-low thing. They work well in both casual and formal situations. Guys have noticed their versatility and are choosing them more and more. And so should you…
You’re probably not that familiar with them but let me tell you: espadrilles will give you a really, REALLY casual air.
Take a look at this pair (Hermes):
If you want something stylish and comfortable at the same time, you found it.
