One of the accessories that are often overlooked by men (and women alike) are eyeglasses. While sunglasses are getting a lot of attention, eyeglasses are often overlooked on most style-related websites.
Chances are you’re wearing vision glasses right now and you think things such as…
“I look like a dork.”
“These glasses ruin my chances of putting together a cool outfit.”
First of all, this is all in your head. Secondly, you have to know which eyeglasses work well for you. And when I say “for you”, I mean your facial shape, your eyes (size and color) and your outfits.
Match the frame to your facial shape
If you don’t want to read the entire article, just read this piece of advice right here because it’s the one thing I want you to learn and apply. match the shape of the frame to your face and you’ll look stunning.
First, you have to determine your facial shape. I talked about this a while back here.
Now, all you have to do is to only “hunt” for eyeglasses that match your facial shape. Specifically…
- if you have a round face, choose a pair that has bigger lens. Specifically, you wand the height of the frame to be as close as possible to the width. These will make you look geeky so make sure you choose a pair such as the tortoise shell eyeglasses pictured in the beginning of this article. Another option is to choose a pair with round (or almost round eyeglasses).
- if you have a rectangular face, choose a pair that has rectangular lenses
- if you have a square face, go for eyeglasses with eyeglasses that are “almost square”, possibly with rounded corners
You don’t have to learn my advice by heart, however. Just remember what I told you, then go out there and try on as may pairs as you want. Go ahead and try pairs that I DON’T recommend, just so you see how poorly they fit you.
Just for fun, after you try on 20 or 30 pairs, try your current pair of sunglasses and compare.
And when you decide (provided that you live in the UK), visit LensWay for a wide selection of eyeglasses.
The alternative: contact lens
if you really want to get rid of that nice guy image and ditch glasses altogether, how about contact lenses?
One of my best friends has been wearing them for a long time now and, truth be told, I can imagine him wearing eyeglasses. He’s just too cool for them and, maybe, so are you.
The trouble with contact lens is that you have to switch them every few months, but you’ll get used to it. My friend did, anyway.
If you decide to do this, LensWay can help you with that as well: http://www.lensway.co.uk/contact-lenses
I don’t really care whether you continue to stick with eyeglasses or if you want to switch to contact lenses. It’s up to you. What I do care is that do everything possible to improve your appearance.
Remember that your face is the part of your body that’s seen the most by other people. Make sure you pay extra attention to it.
