Well, I just had to tell you. Ever since I changed my style a few years ago, I’ve been doing better and better with women. I’m no world-class pick-up artist but I do want to share some of the situations I’ve been involved that are related to my style.
For someone who didn’t get that much attention from girls, these things are an eye opener – and I hope they will be for you too.
#1 The tall hot blonde
A lot guys have asked me the same question over and over again: what’s in style?
That’s a good question but it won’t help you much if you don’t answer another one first: what’s my lifestyle?
Since I’m a teacher, I’m not really allowed to get mad at anyone for asking this (and, at times, I do feel like it) but, what I CAN do is write an article about it.
I want you, for just one second, to forget about fashion and style. Forget all about D&G, Prada, chinos, bracelets and rings. Style is about expressing who you already are. If who you are is not who you’d want to be, then it’s time you figure THAT out first.
Whether you’re really excited about the start of the new school year or if you’re already having nightmares, one thing is clear: when school does start, you’re going to need some new clothes.
Before we get into the nitty-gritty of looking stylish during class, I have a small disclaimer: the outfits I’m about to suggest are not meant to replace any school uniform. If your school imposes you to wear one, you shouldn’t try to surprise everyone by wearing something completely different.
OK, so you’ve got it all down: the perfect fitting clothes, the right color combinations and a great pair of shoes. You’re going out and you want to look your best. While there are at least a dozen accessories you could wear (all of which are being covered in my book), there is one in particular which will give you that slick, manly look> the belt.
While there are several types of belt fabrics, I want to focus today on the highest quality one: leather.
Well, I just drove back home from another wedding. It was really exciting to attend a 5-star wedding at a 5-star hotel, while the groom is a 5-star friend of mine. I had to look sharp – and I did.
I’ll save the pictures for last but, for now,I’ll just tell you what I wore. I leave it to you to put together in your head my entire outfit – just to practice. Here goes:
- dark-brown pinstripe suit
- light-blue simple dress shirt
- dark brown shoes and socks
- blue tie with brown stripes
- patterned pocket square
You’ve been hearing this for years: Wear color!, Stand out!, Be yourself!, Who cares what anyone else thinks?
So, you timidly decide you should follow these voices and you buy a red pair of chinos, a slim tie, maybe even a fedora. As you wear your new items of clothing, you say to yourself: Hey, this is cool!
But something isn’t right. Even though the outfit is perfect, you have that gut feeling that you’re wearing someone else’s clothes.
This feeling accentuates once you meet someone you know and he or she gives you that “smile”.
You know that smile, right? The smile you get when they see you overdressed and they’re thinking to themselves: What’s this all about?
You bravely say to yourself: It’s going to pass. Everyone will eventually get used to me dressing to stand out.
But that weird gut feeling is still there…
One of the things I always stress to my style students is attention to detail. No matter where you go, make sure you’ve got the right outfit and that you’re always trying to make a statement.
But what about when you’re going out to a beach (either for a walk or to get a tan)? If you’ve never thought about what to wear in such situations… it’s time.
This article will focus particularly on flip-flops, then I’m going to give you some suggestions of what to wear with them.
I’m excited. I’m really excited. I sent an e-mail to Mr. Roetzel but little did I know he would be so prompt in answering me back. The answers to the interview questions, which were sent by e-mail were just as prompt.
For those of you who don’t know, Mr. Roetzel wrote the book “Gentleman, a Timeless Guide To Fashion”, a style bestseller which you can find on Amazon and, most likely, a bookstore near you. I purchased it 2 years ago and I open it regularly to refresh my memory when it comes to the subtleties of style.
I’ve talked a lot about leather shoes and why they’re the number one option for a stylish outfit. I’ve even taken it one step further and discussed some unusual models, such as monk strap and saddle shoes.
But these leather shoes have one BIG problem: they become uncomfortable after walking in them for a few hours. Now, if it’s autumn or spring, you don’t have much of a choice. But if it’s summer, guess what?
There are a number of summer shoes available and plimsolls are one of them. They’re comfy, they’re trendy and you can get them for less than $50.
I know, I know. How can I even mention combat shorts after so many shirts and suits? Yes.
Sometimes you need a break. Maybe you want to wear simple jeans and a white t-shirt, maybe you want to try something new.
How about a military summer look?
Combat shorts are the first step. Don’t be fooled that it’s easy to match them. It only becomes easy once you learn how. It all starts with a pair of combat shorts such as these:
