Since I just bought a pair of brown leather shoes, I had to get something to match them. While I had similar accessories in my wardrobe already, the problem was the shade of brown was not the same (or close).
Since we’re talking leather shoes, they should match the belt and the wallet which, of course should also be leather.
So I went out to this “hidden store” downtown and I bought…
Item: wallet Color: brown Fabric: leather Brand: Cavalieri Store: *secret* Price: $23 (on October 12th 2011) I’ll be wearing them with: jeans and khakis
I was just watching the old Seinfeld series when this scene caught my attention. Funny, yet true. Hit play below to watch.
Jerry: Again with the sweatpants?
George: What? I’m comfortable.
Jerry: You know the message you’re sending out to the entire world with these sweatpants? You’re telling the world “I give up. I can’t compete in normal society. I’m miserable… so I might as well be comfortable.”
Although I wanted to get brogues, in the end I decided to go for loafers. I’ll be wearing them both when going out as well as work (obviously, by rotation with my other shoes).
Item: loafers Color: brown Fabric: leather Brand: Borelli Store: Deichmann Price: $62 (on october 2nd 2011) I’ll be wearing them with: jeans and khakis
I’ve recently had a reader ask a very interesting question. In case you didn’t know, I’m sharing my expertise for free here on the blog (so go ahead and ask me anything you want about men’s fashion and style).
The question goes like this:
Hello George, I’m attending a republican party dinner I will be with Girlfriend and county legislators and a Senator, I’m a working stiff I want to look damn good help brother what color jacket pants shirt tie I have small buidget is there hope using those online stores or can Macy’s or JC Penny pull it off for me.
I just found this little gem and thought I’d share it with you. It’s a poem called Style by Charles Bukowski and I think you’ll like it.
Here’s the author himself reading his poem and the text right below that.
Style
Style is the answer to everything.
A fresh way to approach a dull or dangerous thing.
To do a dull thing with style is preferable to doing a dangerous thing without style.
To do a dangerous thing with style, is what I call art.
Bullfighting can be an art.
Boxing can be an art.
Loving can be an art.
Opening a can of sardines can be an art.
Not many have style.
Not many can keep style.
I have seen dogs with more style than men.
Although not many dogs have style.
Cats have it with abundance.
Since a lot of you guys are interested to know what kind of clothes I BUY, I figured it would be a nice idea to start a style journal right here. I’m going to make some short articles that will present whatever items of clothing I bought in that particular day.
I hope you guys enjoy them!
Today I purchased a nice red pocket square. Here’s a photo and some detailed info.
Item: pocket square Color: red Fabric: 100% Silk Brand: Seroussi Price: $10 It goes well with: my black Zara sports jacket. I just tried it and it makes a nice contrast
I know, I know… you’re probably not very happy about summer being gone. You can’t show off your leather bracelets you can’t roll up your pants and your shirts’ sleeves. So what CAN you do to show some style?
There are lots of things you can do. Each season has it’s own set of clothes you can wear, meaning that right now you get to wear a whole different range of clothes than you did for the past few months.
Did you notice the guy in the photo above? He put together a nice preppy outfit for this fall:
Choosing a suit is a daunting task. you’ve got fabric, color, fit and so on to worry about. But what if we wanted to be a little more stylish and add another level of complexity? Welcome to the world of three-piece suits.
A three-piece suit is essentially a suit with a waistcoat. The three pieces are (obviously) the suit jacket, the pants and the respective waistcoat.
Since most suits are made of only two pieces, a three piece suit will give you that unique edge you will need in a formal situation. While most guys are still wearing their two-piece suits, by adding an extra layer into yours, you will make a strong fashion statement.
There are a TON of things to try to upgrade your style – we spoke a lot about them. But there are a few “unconventional” ways to stand out that are actually… kind of fun.
One of those secrets is to wear colored socks. Hold on there! If you’ve just raised your eyebrow, I saw that!
Give me a few minutes of your time to read this article and you’ll almost surely change your mind.
There has been a lot of talk these days about men’s bags and whether they should be a part of a man’s arsenal of accessories. So much so that I had more than a few readers ask me to write an article about it. No doubt that everyone wants to know if they should get one or not.
So here’s the big question. The elephant in the room that no one talks about.
Can Men Wear Bags?
Yes, they can. I recommend them. The time when men’s accessories were limited to ties are looong gone. Nowadays we have lots of choices when it comes to accessories (just look at Johnny Depp) – and bags are one of them.
