Should You Get a Watch That Stands Out?

June 11th, 2011

Breitling watch

One of the never ending quests here at Be Stylish is finding that little style item that makes all the difference. Most of the times, that item is a small accessory that brings a drop of color in an otherwise dull outfit. But what kind of accessory can make us men stand out in a subtle way?

You can try a scarf, you can try a pendant or a leather bracelet. But the manliest men’s accessory of all that I recommend you try is, of course, the watch.

Men style is so big that most guys shrug their shoulders when you tell them that shorts can be part of a preppy look. The first image that comes to their mind is Huckleberry Finn on his Mississippi’s raft ride and that’s enough to put a smile on their face. I’m here to tell you otherwise.

The right kind of shorts can draw a lot of attention to you (especially from girls) if you make sure you match them to your outfit. But how do you do that? I’m going to give you five ways to wear your shorts that will give you a style boost – guaranteed.

[Lookbook] An All-White Summer Look

all white beach outfit

Sure, this looks is simple. But, sometimes, it’s the simple outfits that attract the eye the most. Peter is wearing a pair of white linen pants, a rolled-up linen white shirt and a pair of brown flip-flops.

Can it get more simple than that?

Before you close this page, I have one important question for you: have you thought about what clothes to wear this summer?

If you’re a real gentleman, you should have a pretty good idea of what clothes to wear (think boat shoes, espadrilles, shorts, rolled up khakis, short sleeved shirts, rolled up long sleeved shirts etc. etc.). Peter gave you just a few ideas, but there are plenty more options.

Summer is almost here and temperatures are constantly over 70 degrees F (20 degrees C). Because we have weddings and other formal events, the question on everyone’s mind is: how do we dress stylishly and keeping it cool at the same time?

I’m going to talk about the shirt exclusively, because it’s the first option you should consider when dressing casual (t-shirts go well too but let’s leave this discussion for another time. Shirts are of course the ONLY option when you’re invited or hosting a formal event.

Should You Roll Up Your Jeans and Khakis?

Last night I returned from my first mini-summer vacation this year. I went to a nearby resort to enjoy the wonderful thermal waters there and get some tan. After the first day, when we were all getting ready to go home because our skin just couldn’t bear anymore sun, I finally did it:

… I rolled up my khakis!

I’ve never done this before but, seeing other guys doing it, I just had to give it a try.

Picture this: a black and white striped polo shirt, a pair of khakis from Zara and a pair of blue and white boat shoes. I was a sailor all right.

Why Replica Watches are Bad

Clothing is an industry. There are literally thousands of clothing and accessories stores that are competing for our attention. Some of them are expensive and some of them are not (I discussed 10 great brands here so I won’t cover it here again) but there are others who aren’t so.. reputable.

Counterfeit clothes and accessories look just like the originals at an unbeatable price. Some of them are so good that even an expert can’t tell the difference between an original and a fake watch.

Some manufacturers got as far as using the exact same materials that the original brands are made of. Amazing, right?
