Layering shorts

May 19th, 2014 No comments

I bet you waited a long time to get rid of all those overcoats and wool tops, haven’t you? Spring is finally here and summer is just around the corner. Meaning right now is the best time to do some kick-ass layering.

I wanna show you something cool. You know how shorts are only worn during the summer with something like a shirt or a t-shirt, right? Well, let’s see if we can do some layering, shall we?

Ok, let’s take a nice pair of colored cotton shorts such as this one:

Preppy Style Not Allowed On Sundays?

November 10th, 2013 4 comments

So I just got back from the mall a couple of hours ago. I was there with my buddies scouting for some boots for the upcoming winter. We ran into a guy, a friend of their, who works for a really stylish men’s clothing store in my city.

The funny part was we met him yesterday as well and, as you can probably imagine, he was really well dressed. Sports coat, pocket square, stylish chinos – you name it.

But today, his outfit totally surprised me. Not only it was too casual for a walk in the mall but it broke some really basic style rules as well.

Good polos and bad polos

October 26th, 2013 No comments

As much as I would like to see guys wear dress shirts, most of them are still clinging to their old t-shirts. So I’m calling a truce: how about you switch to polo shirts for a while and then, once you’re comfortable with those, you can transition to the almighty shirt?

Now, there are good polos and bad polos.

Bad polos:

– are made of synthetic fibers
– the don’t fit you perfectly (most guys wear stylish mens golf shirts and polo shirts that are 2 sizes too big for them).
– have logos on them or weird color combinations, such as a single stripe that runs across the chest

How to Fight Cold Autumn Temperatures In Style

October 5th, 2013 No comments

dsquared 2 autumn outfit

Today I went for my usual morning jog and, the moment I opened the door, I felt the cold air hitting me in the face. I had to go back to put on another sweater. It was freezing.

Fast forward 6 hours: I’m sitting in a coffee shop exchanging jokes with the bartender who happens to be one of my best friends. It’s still chilly but I took care of that. My dark brown wool zip-up is providing me with the right level of comfort right now, layering nicely over my light blue dress shirt.

How To Wear Blue Checked Trousers

blue checked pants

I just realized I’m getting hundreds of style questions from readers… so I figured I’d share some of my answers with you.

Chances are you’ve come across a pair of blue checked pants already and, because you didn’t have a clue on what to wear them with, you didn’t even give them the chance by trying them on.

Here’s the question I received today from Mark:

I have a blue checked trouser and I want to know on how I can match it with a slim tie and a half coat. By the way, I am slim and tall so all my clothes are fit. I never wear baggy clothes.

Layering Vests and Shirts

September 11th, 2013 No comments

So I wore this really stylish combination at work today and I figured: why not talk about it?

Layering is a big unknown for most guys. It’s a fancy name to something we already know how to do. Today I want to talk about one of those ways, and a really easy one at that. Plus, at the end you’ll get a more advanced tip to really make this type of layering shine.

You will need:

1. A business/dress shirt
2. A sleeveless vest (not a waistcoat)
3. A jacket or blazer
4. a secret accessory whose identity won’t be revealed until the end.

September 9th, 2013 No comments

If you’ve been working hard on your golf swings to finally beat that friend of your who always seems to be just 1% better than you, I found a way to give you that 1%.

Yes, it’s the way you dress. By applying these really simple steps you can not only look better than your opponent, but intimidate him just enough to lose his focus and be forced to recognize you as the better man.

And it all starts with the shirt.
